Company History

PORTALCONSA, S.L.U., was founded in 1988 with the aim of becoming a reference in the meat processing and distribution industry.

It started its activity in a small 200-square-metres room in the city of Vigo, then moved to a 800 sqm warehouse in Cotogrande, and finally to a 4,500 sqm at the industrial estate of A Granxa, O Porriño, where it has been since 2004.

The company has gone through various stages of expansion and growth, going from having just one employee to having more than 100 today.

Mission Statement

From the very start, the sale of fresh meat, both chilled and frozen, has been our main activity.

We have gradually started to develop Galician meat products, namely cured products, and today we have acquired a notable presence with such products on the market.

We currently produce all kinds of seasoned meats, as well as cured, salt-cured, fresh and cooked products.

Quality

Our current facilities are located in the industrial estate of A Granxa, O Porriño, a town that is 15 km from Vigo and 10 km from Portugal. They are fitted with the most modern equipment in the industry.

We have a cutting plant, a processing plant, a packaging plant, and cutting-edge refrigerating equipment, as well as a fully computerized cold storage chamber for up to 1MM kg and a freezing tunnel with 200 hp cooling capacity that can freeze 10 T in less than 12 hours.

Equally noteworthy are the 10 driers for cold meats that have been installed

Recently, making us one of the Galician companies with the highest capacity.

From the point of view of hygiene and health, our facilities were approved by the health authorities right from the start, because of the materials used for the finishing touches, namely stainless steel, our refrigeration panel, etc. and because of the way the different areas are ddistributed, preventing the different products from intefering with each other at the different manufacturing stages.

As proof of our irreproachable quality, we have the following certifications: ISO 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and SAE certification for exports.

Our Market

Galicia and Portugal are our main markets. However, we have recently decided to go one step further and have started operating in EU countries such as the United Kingdom or Poland, as well as other countries such as Hong Kong.

Portalconsa's customers are very diverse. In a few years' time, our products have reached all the areas in the meat industry, such as the public sector (hospitals, nursing homes, schools, etc.), hospitality, meat retailers and department stores.

Department stores are becoming more and more relevant in terms of both volume and type of busines, and we are focusing more and more on them as a result of the market shifting in that direction.

CSR

Continually seeking for improvement id one of Portalconsa's goals. We have decided to go one step further and become by implementing ISO 14001:2015 for environmental protection, ISO 9001:2015 for customer satisfaction, and ISO 22000:2018 for food safety.

In order to do so, we have established the following courses of action:

Using the 3 rules on environmental prevention:

• REDUCE: reduce resource consumption as much as possible.

• REUSE: as far as possible, do not throw away what can be reused.

• RECYCLE: separate waste according to its nature at the time of disposal.
